Karlien Lourens holds a BCom Honours degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology and a BCom degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Pretoria.
With extensive experience in Human Resources and Industrial Relations, Karlien provides practical HR and labour relations support to employers across a wide range of industries. Her expertise includes managing disciplinary and grievance procedures, chairing disciplinary hearings, handling CCMA and Bargaining Council matters, drafting employment contracts and workplace policies, performance management, Employment Equity compliance, and day-to-day employee relations.
She regularly engages with trade unions and assists employers in effectively managing workplace disputes and labour-related challenges. A key focus of her work is helping organisations interpret and apply labour legislation in a practical and commercially viable manner while ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant processes.
Karlien has experience in conciliation and arbitration proceedings and is skilled in preparing and managing the documentation required for labour dispute resolution processes. Her approach is solutions-driven, balancing the needs of employers with sound labour relations practices.
Previously registered as a member of the AHI Employers Organisation, Karlien has served as an Organising Official with the GDP Employers Organisation (GDPEO) since 14 August 2024. In this role, she continues to work closely with employers, providing guidance and support on a broad spectrum of Human Resources and Industrial Relations matters.
